I should be getting download speeds around 150Mbps, but as soon as I plug in the Airport Express my download speed drops sometimes as low as 0.6Mbps and my internet becomes essentially unusable. Ever since doing so, my network essentially crashes when I try to extend the network. The devices were connected with about a 150ft run of Cat 6 Ethernet and my network functioned properly.I decided to upgrade to a newer Airport Extreme with Wireless AC because more and more of my devices are AC compatible. Network issue when extending Airport Extreme I previously was using a somewhat older Airport Extreme Wireless N router, and extending to my garage with an Airport Express. I am basically a Luddite, so if anyone understands what is going on, and can gently lead me through the steps required to regain my trusty internet connection on my AE home network, I'd be very grateful. In order to get internet, we must now change the AE router mode every few minutes! And still no Sonos at all. But only for a few minutes, before stopping again.Įven stranger, if I then change back to Bridge mode, it comes back again. I've been playing around to get it fixed, and notice that if I switch to DHCP and NAT mode on the AE, the connection comes back (although not to my Sonos strangely). I reiterate that nothing that I know of prompted this change. I troubleshot with Virgin on the phone, ascertaining that the Hub 3.0 was working fine, and in router mode would provide a fast and reliable network. Last week the internet connection to my AE home network stopped. For the last 4 years, with the AE in Bridge Mode, my home wifi has been faultless, with numerous devices connecting to the internet. I have an AirPort Extreme base station hard wired to a Virgin Hub 3.0 which is in Modem mode.
